During my first year as an art student, I became close friends with a fellow artist named Noelle Teague. We would often pose as model or assist in our respective art projects, and recognized that we were each beginning to develop our own distinct style. As our final project that semester, we gathered all of our life drawing sketches and created a collage on two large sheets of paper joined together. We pasted, glued, traced, sketched, and shaded until we could no longer determine whose work was whose. The piece, titled “Figures,” was then accepted into a student juried art show and hung in the temporary exhibition.
