About This Project

The topic of perspective played a prominent role in my studies, both in art and in architecture and interiors. Drawing from life, I practiced until I could accurately capture the scene in front of me. I spent two days drawing, by pencil, the corner of a Spanish-style building on the Rollins College campus. A larger challenge was an interior courtyard of the Louvre in Paris, and the moody staircase of the Opera Garnier. I simplified the park scene in the Palais Royal, breaking down the elements to solely line work with no shading. The rules of perspective drawing are  immutable, so I chose to vary my technique in order to capture the individual expression and character of each location.
